Position: Inventory Control Analyst
Reports to: Diretor of Inventory Control Department: Merchandising

Job Summary:

    Enter, maintain and retrieve UPC codes for database in new JDA Merchandising System (PMM). Gather other related information pertaining to items bought and sold including: vendor information, description of item, cost, retail price, and EDI status. Assign pre-determined internal department class/subclass, coding for reporting purposes. Direct interaction with vendors will be necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Gather information on new items from vendors, buyers, VP's, marketing and store employees in our field locations.
  • Compile information on vendors who are EDI compatible.
  • Work directly with POS Department to resolve issues on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Run reports on sales data for Senior VP of Merchandising, buyers, POS and Marketing Departments.
  • Track and send reports of vendors that are not compliant, that do not use UPC codes or price ticketing.
  • Maintain items, retail, costs, etc for items within the merchandising system's database.
  • Check reports generated from merchandising system after UPC codes are entered into a system via spreadsheet.
  • Correct errors that cause items to be rejected, i.e., wrong UPC, department, class/subclass or previously entered item.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Ability to multi-task with strong emphasis on priority in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Experienced in JDA's merchandising systems.
  • Information gathering using several different Internet resources.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to adapt and change as the circumstances dictate.
  • Strong interaction with multiple departments to make for a cohesive workplace.

Education and Experience:

  • High school, or GED necessary
  • Advanced education optional, but not required.
  • Previous knowledge of computerized merchandising and inventory control systems.
  • A background in a retail merchandising or purchasing environment.
  • Familiarity of alphanumerical data entry and typing.
