Job Summary:

    Responsible for overall title assortment and sell-through for designated categories. Develops and executes merchandise strategies to achieve category sales and profit plans.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage & develop book event program.
  • Manage & develop book category sign program in coordination with national retail sign program.
  • Manage & develop customer incentive programs.
  • Create planograms and other merchandising tools as necessary.
  • Develop publisher promotional opportunities.
  • Work with publishers and suppliers to review opportunities.
  • Review sales information on a periodic basis to achieve maximum profitability for marketing programs.
  • Communicate merchandise strategies and results effectively within the book department and the overall company.
  • Review & select product in designated categories.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • 3+ years multi-store marketing &/or buying experience
  • Computer proficiency minimum: Desktop Publishing, Powerpoint, Excel and Word
  • Excellent analytical and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of reading material industry
  • Must be willing to work in a fast paced environment
  • History of creative contribution in the workplace

Education and Experience:

  • College degree
  • Background in bookselling
