Job Summary:
Develops and executes merchandise strategies to achieve category sales and profit plans. Directly oversees Book Buyer,
Marketing Manager and Administrative Assistants for books. Responsible for overall title assortment and sell-through for books.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop supplier relationships.
- Manage and develop book event program.
- Develop and execute overall assortment strategies and reviews.
- Manage on-going product/ assortment reviews
- Source and develop new product
- Manage staff development & workload
- Develop promotional opportunities.
- Develop effective and efficient communication strategies; communicate merchandise strategies and results effectively
within the book department and the overall company.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- 3+ years multi-store buying experience
- Computer proficiency, especially Excel and Word
- Excellent analytical and planning skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of reading material industry and distribution network.
- Knowledge of top selling books
- Strong retail financial background
- History of creative contribution in the workplace.
- Effective people management skills.
Education and Experience:
- College degree
- Background in bookselling
