Job Summary:

    Supports the Specialty Store Concepts by sourcing merchandise, developing assortment plans, managing vendor relations and partnering with store personnel and merchandisers to maintain balanced inventory levels in order to meet sales and profit goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops a balanced assortment plan for new and existing specialty store concepts
  • Assists in the setting of new stores and plan-o-gramming of new programs where needed
  • Negotiates and establishes vendor programs in order to maximize sales and profitability
  • Places initial orders and reorders as needed for specialty stores
  • Reviews and monitors market trends by attending applicable trade shows
  • Monitors competitive pricing through frequent store visits and the review of competitive ads
  • Prepares control books for locations in order for store personnel to maintain an uninterrupted flow of product
  • Implements and communicates new vendor programs to Store GM’s and Regional VP’s
  • Partners with Regional Merchandisers and Store GM’s on a daily basis to maintain adequate inventory levels
  • Provides support and assists in solving customer related issues

Working Relationships:

  • Communicates with store personnel and Regional Merchandisers on a daily basis to maintain and support Specialty Store programs
  • Works with Accounts Payable in order to troubleshoot and solve potential credit issues

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Ability to multi-task and interface with other departments on a daily basis
  • Strong negotiation skills, organizational and assortment planning experience
  • Strong PC Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • 3-5 Years Buying experience in a Retail Specialty environment
